Job summary

Louisiana State University is seeking an Entry Level Staff Accountant 1 to join the Payroll section of the Office of Accounting Services in Baton Rouge. The role focuses on processing personnel forms for graduate assistants, faculty, and professional staff across LSU campuses using Workday systems.

The position requires a basic knowledge of HCM, Payroll, and FIN modules, and a willingness to engage in compliance, reporting, and special projects.

Qualifications

• Proficient with computers and advanced MS Office skills.
• 10-key by touch with speed and accuracy.
• Experience applying standard accounting principles and strong verbal/written communication.

Responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for graduate assistants, faculty, and professional staff across campuses; initiate payroll cycles and resolve processing errors.
• Perform retroactive payroll calculations and terminate leave calculations; prepare journal entries and write-offs for overpayments.
• Communicate with LSU HR offices, the Graduate School, departments, and employees regarding payroll transactions and activities; review forms for IRS compliance and LSU policies.
• Assist with fringe benefits and tax reporting; ensure fringe benefits are included in employee income and reported in Form W-2.
• Support summer school budget loads and special projects; balance payroll-related workloads as assigned.
