The role leads a crew performing wildland firefighting tasks and related operations with emphasis on safety and efficiency. The position requires leadership in fire suppression, supervision of GW-04/05 level staff, and coordination with federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national.
• Selective Service registration or exemption for males born after 12/31/1959.

Responsibilities

• Manage wildland fire engine operations for proper positioning, use and safety.
• Monitor fire behavior, weather, and effects on prescribed fires and wildland fire use.
• Potentially serve as Incident Commander and evaluate on-site hazards.
