Job summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Southern Region 8, Francis Marion and Sumter National Forest, seeks a first line supervisor for a High Complexity Fire Engine Module.

The position performs wildland firefighting work and provides leadership for a crew. Duties include supervising engine operations, evaluating fire behavior and weather, possibly serving as Incident Commander, and coordinating with federal, state, and local fire protection agencies.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Selective Service registration for males born after 1959.

Responsibilities

• Manage wildland fire engine operations and positioning.
• Monitor fire behavior, weather, and effects on prescribed fires and wildland use.
• Possibly serve as Incident Commander and evaluate on-site conditions and hazards.
• Supervise crews and provide administrative and technical supervision.
