Job summary

Rinker Design Associates, LLC is seeking a Lead Water Resources Engineer in Glen Allen, VA to lead drainage, stormwater, and hydrologic/hydraulic design for transportation projects across Virginia.

You will join a collaborative team, manage hydraulic design elements on diverse DOT and local projects, and promote growth with opportunities to advance technical expertise and leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in water resources design.
• EIT with intent to obtain PE licensure within 1 year or PE licence.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as Ensoft, HY-8, MicroStation, HEC-RAS and OpenRoads Designer.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Hydrologic and Hydraulic Design: design stormwater systems, culverts, and other drainage structures for roadways, highways, and bridges, compliant with design requirements.
• Project Management—Hydraulics: manage hydraulic design elements on transportation projects for DOT and locality tasks.
• Environmental Compliance: assist in navigating Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations including Stormwater and Floodplain management.
• Erosion and Sediment Control: review, design, and field inspection per DOT/state/local requirements; DEQ certification a plus.
• Collaboration: coordinate with civil/transportation engineers, contractors, and clients to integrate water resources design with project objectives.
• Technical Reporting: prepare reports, drainage calculations, and technical documents for project submission.
