Job summary

Martin and Wood Water Consultants (M&W) in Colorado is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 7+ years of experience to lead significant projects and mentor professionals. You will shape water rights strategy, prepare expert reports, and guide clients on availability analyses.

You will work on and lead projects across Colorado, build relationships, and help solve urgent water challenges. A collaborative, growth‑minded team awaits.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering; a Master's degree is preferred but not required.
  • Colorado Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one.
  • Familiarity with Colorado water rights and regulatory landscape.
  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience managing tasks, projects and staff.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret information in both statistical and narrative form.

Responsibilities

  • Own projects from start to finish — lead hydrologic and engineering investigations from concept through completion.
  • Lead and strengthen the team — mentor junior staff and help develop a strong technical team.
  • Manage hydrologic and water rights evaluations focusing on quality and efficiency.
  • Shape, contribute, and support water rights strategy.
  • Prepare and review expert reports and analyses, including historical use and availability analyses.
  • Conduct water accounting and provide practical operational guidance.
  • Develop new projects and client opportunities.
  • Build lasting client relationships with new and existing clients.
