At Martin and Wood Water Consultants (M&W), water isn’t just our work, it’s our passion. We are looking for a Senior Hydrogeologist who is ready to step into a leadership role where technical expertise meets real world impact.

This is your chance to lead important groundwater and water rights projects across Colorado, mentor rising talent, and help shape solutions to some of the West’s most pressing water challenges. If you’re the kind of person who thrives on solving complex problems and wants your work to truly matter, you’ll fit right in here.

What You’ll Do

  • Own projects from the ground up - lead hydrogeologic investigations from concept through execution
  • Lead and elevate the team - mentor junior staff and help build a strong technical bench
  • Manage drilling programs and field operations, ensuring quality and efficiency
  • Design and oversee groundwater wells including aquifer tests and technical evaluations
  • Support groundwater modeling and water rights strategy
  • Dive into water accounting, lagging, and return flow analyses with confidence
  • Translate complex data into clear, defensible technical reports
  • Generate new projects and clients
  • Foster long-term relationships with new and existing clients

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Engineering, or similar field (Master’s preferred)
  • Registered Professional Geologist (or ability to obtain)
  • 10+ years of hydrogeology and management experience with increasing responsibility
  • Familiarity with Colorado water rights and regulatory landscape
  • Strong command of Denver Basin and alluvial aquifer systems
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Clear, confident communicator both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel
  • Groundwater modeling and ArcGIS experience a plus

Why M&W

We’re not a giant firm and that’s by design. At M&W, you’ll work alongside highly experienced professionals in a collaborative, no-ego environment where good ideas win and expertise is respected.

Our projects sit at the intersection of science, policy, and real-world impacts supporting municipalities, developers, agencies, irrigators, and nonprofits navigating the complexities of western water. Here, your work will not disappear into a black box, you will see its impact firsthand.

  • Eligible for annual merit bonus
  • Flexible hybrid work environment (at least two days per week in the Golden, Colorado office)
  • Employer funded retirement plan (typically 10+% of qualified earnings annually, depending on company performance)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance at no cost to full-time employees, with partial company paid premiums for family members
  • Professional development opportunities and tuition reimbursement available
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
