Job summary

The Town of Pecos City seeks a Wastewater Treatment Operator to operate and maintain facilities, manage staff, and oversee capital projects. Responsibilities include monitoring performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with other groups for emergency response.

Ideal candidates have a Texas TCEQ Class C or B license or ability to obtain within 6–9 months, plus five years of wastewater experience including leadership. A valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of progressively responsible wastewater experience, including three years in a supervisor or lead capacity.
• TCEQ Class "C" or "B" Wastewater Operator license in Texas with wastewater treatment experience or ability to obtain in 6 to 9 months of hire.
• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains wastewater treatment facilities and related systems.
• Evaluates, recommends, and implements division policies; coordinates training for staff.
• Monitors performance, analyzes metrics, and improves department efficiency.
• Promotes safe working practices and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on WWTP equipment and performs lab duties as needed.
