Job summary

The City of Port Arthur is seeking a Treatment Plant Operator I – WWTP to operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities. You will monitor plant functions, read gauges, and perform chemical tests, reporting data and conditions to supervisors.

The role requires one year of experience in water/WTP operations, a high school diploma or GED, and a Grade C wastewater certificate with CDL eligibility in Texas. This is a full-time, on-site position with the City Department of Utility Operations.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing maintenance and routine operation duties in a water purification or wastewater treatment plant.
• Must have completed the twelfth grade and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Possession of a Grade C or higher wastewater certificate and Texas Class B CDL or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Operate treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent.
• Monitor gauges, meters, graphs, and test results to determine processing needs.
• Perform routine maintenance on valves, pumps and related equipment.
• Make daily rounds and collect water/wastewater samples, recording results.
