Job summary

Veolia in North America is seeking an Assistant Chief Wastewater Operator to lead plant and collection system operations, ensuring permit compliance and training junior staff. You will assist with on-call coverage, maintenance planning, and process optimization in a hands-on environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with higher technical degrees preferred, and at least one year in an operations setting.

Qualifications

High school education or GED required; ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
Associate's/Bachelor's in science or technical area strongly preferred.
At least one year of experience in an operations environment; knowledge of wastewater tech preferred.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead wastewater treatment plant and collection system operations and maintenance with Chief Wastewater Operator.
Troubleshoot and diagnose operational problems; adjust process setpoints for permit compliance.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance; supervise & train operators and interns.
Participate in on-call rotation; attend town meetings as needed.
Ensure compliance with SOPs and safety regulations; monitor equipment and processes.
