Job summary

The City of Houston's Public Works department is seeking an experienced inspector for the Houston Water/WasteWater Operations division. You will schedule and review work assignments for sewer cleaning, televising, and maintenance, coordinating with contractors to ensure compliance with specifications.

You will conduct field inspections, prepare reports, and assist the public with forms while interpreting codes to support quality assurance.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate's degree in a field closely related to inspection or a high school diploma with certification/licensing in a technical specialty program over 18 months in inspection.
• Four years of journey level or skilled inspection experience; journey level after apprenticeship for certain trades.
• Valid Texas Driver License and compliance with City of Houston driving policy.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, prepares and reviews work assignments related to cleaning and televising, preventative maintenance, and collection system maintenance assigned to contractors for the sanitary sewer collection system.
• Investigates and responds to inquiries concerning sanitary sewer issues, code interpretations and technical problems from contractors, professionals and the public.
• Prepares and reviews reports, forms, and records; assists the public with various forms; provides code interpretation to enhance technical quality.
• Conducts inspections related to cleaning and television of the collection system to ensure conformance to project specifications and contract documents.
