Job summary

Beacon Communications seeks a Lead Voice/Data Technician to oversee structured cabling installations and lead field crews. You will interpret drawings, coordinate with Project Managers, and ensure work meets specs, codes, and customer requirements.

You will manage materials, mentor junior technicians, and maintain careful documentation while prioritizing safety and quality. Travel and extended hours are required as project demands.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• OSHA 10/30 certification or equivalent safety training.
• Experience with structured cabling installation and supervision is preferred.
• Certifications from cabling manufacturers demonstrate proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation of structured cabling systems (copper & fiber).
• Supervise field technicians; ensure productivity and quality.
• Read engineered drawings, blueprints, and specs for accurate installs.
• Coordinate daily jobsite activities with Project Manager.
• Maintain jobsite safety, cleanliness, and organization.
• Oversee headend buildout, rack/stack, terminations, grounding.
• Ensure installations meet codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting of cabling and basic network issues.
• Manage materials, tools, and equipment; track usage and security.
• Document daily reports, redlines, and closeout packages.
• Participate in scheduling, planning, and coordination meetings.
• Communicate effectively with PMs, customers, and other trades.
• Uphold toolbox talks and safety protocols; enforce standards.
• Maintain punctuality and professionalism; travel as required.
