Job summary

Intramotev in St. Louis, MO seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Vehicle Controls to own the control system for self-propelled railcars and vehicles. You will guide server-side trip planning, real-time messaging, and onboard execution, shaping the product with a small team.

This full-time, in-office role requires design leadership, collaboration with Perception and Embedded teams, and a track record of shipping robust distributed software for real-world freight applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years shipping production software.
• Designs systems with networked components on ground and vehicle and mentors code reviews.
• Strong data structures, algorithms, and maintainable system design across languages.
• Testing discipline with unit and integration tests, Git, Linux CLI, and AI-assisted tooling.
• Willingness to expand into new technical areas and work in a team.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• U.S. Person (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture of the vehicle-control system across ground and vehicle.
• Lead server-side trip planning and onboard execution modules.
• Design real-time messaging with delivery guarantees.
• Own data describing tracks and vehicles and interfaces.
• Set testing bar with unit/integration tests and field testing.
• Debug production issues and feed insights back into architecture and tests.
• Mentor engineers and drive design/code reviews.
• Coordinate interfaces with Perception, Embedded and Applications teams.
