Job summary

Collins Aerospace seeks an Associate Director of Value Engineering to lead DTC and Producibility Engineers from concept through production sustainment. You will optimize product cost and manufacturability while partnering with Engineering, Program Management, Operations and Finance to drive cost-informed design decisions.

You will establish strategies, drive early design influence, and develop robust cost models to support business cases and supplier negotiations.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 12+ years experience, or an advanced degree with 10+ years experience.
• 10+ years in engineering, including design, manufacturing, value or cost engineering.
• 3+ years leading technical teams and developing talent.
• Experience with DTC, DFMA, producibility engineering, or cost modeling.
• Ability to influence decisions in early design phases across levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing team of DTC and Producibility Engineers across multiple product lines.
• Establish value engineering strategies, processes, and tools to drive cost visibility and manufacturability.
• Drive value engineering CORE events across Collins Aerospace SBUs.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, and Operations on requirements and design choices to reduce cost and risk.
• Develop cost models and should-cost methodologies to support trade decisions and proposals.
• Oversee producibility assessments, DFMA analyses, and manufacturing risk evaluations.
• Integrate cost inputs into program plans and technical baselines.
• Develop KPIs and reporting on cost performance and reduction outcomes for senior leadership.
• Foster a culture of innovation and value engineering excellence.
