Job summary

R-2 Contractors is seeking an experienced Utility-Scale Trenching Foreman to lead field crews on nationwide projects. You will oversee trenching, conduit installation, and related activities, ensuring safety and quality while coordinating with superintendents and project management.

Expect extensive travel to active project sites. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in trenching and 2+ years in foreman roles, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in utility-scale trenching, underground utility, or heavy civil construction
• Minimum 2 years as a Trenching Foreman leading field crews
• Ability to read project drawings, utility layouts, trench profiles, and specs
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise daily trenching and underground conduit installation activities
• Plan daily work, coordinate crews, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production
• Read and interpret project drawings and construction documents
• Coordinate trenching, cable lay box operations, bedding, warning mesh, backfilling, and restoration
• Maintain safety, quality, and productivity on site
• Complete daily reports and project documentation
• Mentor crew members and develop future field leaders
