Job summary

Jerritt Canyon is seeking an Underground Fixed Maintenance Supervisor to lead safe and reliable maintenance of underground fixed plant and infrastructure. You will supervise maintenance personnel and contractors, ensuring equipment availability and regulatory compliance while collaborating with Underground Mining, Engineering, Planning, Safety, and Processing teams.

Qualifications

Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
5+ years of maintenance experience in underground mining, preferably with fixed plant.
2+ years frontline supervisory or team-lead experience in mining maintenance.
Current mine-site safety certifications and valid driver’s license.
Experience with CMMS platforms and maintenance work management processes.
Demonstrated ability to supervise multidisciplinary maintenance teams.
Strong mechanical maintenance experience with underground fixed plant.
Knowledge of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance practices.
Experience coordinating contractors and managing maintenance during shutdowns.
Understanding of mining safety systems, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
Ability to prioritize competing maintenance and production requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide visible safety leadership and promote a strong safety culture.
Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards, regulations and environmental requirements.
Conduct pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and field inspections.
Ensure isolation, lockout/tagout, permitting, and safe work practices are followed.
Identify hazards and implement effective controls to minimize risks.
Ensure personnel are trained, competent, and authorized for assigned tasks.
Supervise underground fixed plant maintenance: planned, preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance.
Coordinate daily work activities and allocate personnel, equipment, materials, and contractors.
Monitor execution against plans and ensure work meets quality standards.
Respond to breakdowns and prioritize repairs based on safety and production needs.
Maintain work orders, job plans, inspection records, and equipment history.
Monitor equipment condition and identify recurring failures or opportunities for reliability improvement.
Develop weekly and shutdown maintenance plans with Engineering and Planning teams.
Coordinate planned maintenance with Underground Operations to minimize interruptions.
Ensure parts, tooling, equipment, permits, and resources are available.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
Coordinate contractors and ensure adherence to site standards.
Lead and mentor tradespeople, technicians, apprentices, and maintenance personnel.
Set clear safety, productivity, and quality expectations.
Conduct performance discussions and provide regular feedback.
Support workforce planning, skills development, and competency assessments.
Promote effective communication across shifts and departments.
