Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead UI Tech Designer to bridge design and engineering by building scalable UI systems in Unreal Engine. You will translate wireframes into reusable widgets and navigation flows while partnering across disciplines to deliver performant, ship-ready UI.

The role requires deep Unreal Engine 5 experience (UMG, Slate, Blueprints), strong leadership, and a track record of translating UX into technical requirements. Collaboration across UX, UI art, and engineering is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional UI tech design experience.
• Proven leadership bridging design and engineering to align technical and UX goals.
• Strong project ownership to drive ambiguous UI system problems to shipable solutions.
• Deep Unreal Engine 5 experience with UMG, Slate, and Blueprints on shipped UI screens.
• Strong UI systems design skills to create reusable widgets, structures, and classes.
• Solid UI performance knowledge across memory and CPU constraints in real-time engines.
• Proven navigation and state management experience for complex UI flows.
• Excellent collaboration across UX, UI art, and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design UI system architecture by decomposing features into widgets and classes.
• Build reusable widget libraries for scalable UI development.
• Implement wireframe layouts with widget classes to enable styling workflows.
• Translate UX/visual needs into technical requirements for engineering partners.
• Ensure responsive input mapping and game feel across UI flows.
• Profile UI performance with Unreal’s rendering and memory budgets.
• Write Blueprint logic and advise what belongs in Blueprint vs native code.
• Debug Blueprint/UMG issues with fault-isolation techniques.
• Coordinate documentation and workflow improvements across UX/UI teams.
