Job summary

2K is seeking a Lead UI Technical Designer to own and evolve in-game UI systems at scale, leveraging Unreal Engine, Blueprint scripting, and C++. You will lead the implementation of key UI features, work with designers, artists, engineers, and more, and contribute to a culture of autonomy and high-quality output.

The role demands extensive experience with UE4/UE5, UI architecture, and a track record of leading complex UI projects in AAA games; focus on performance, modularity, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building, debugging, and optimizing UI systems in UE4/UE5 using Blueprints and UMG.
• Familiarity with UI materials, animation systems, and widget architecture.

Responsibilities

• Champion the design, iteration, and maintenance of various UI systems in Unreal Engine.
• Establish, document, and promote UI Blueprint architecture best practices and workflows.
• Drive optimization strategies to ensure consistency, scalability, and performance across all UI systems.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging tools and technologies to enhance XD across gameplay and other interactive elements.
• Translate and improve UX designs into performant in-engine implementations while ensuring seamless UI integration.
• Establish and Reinforce UI Material workflows for widgets.
• Partner with UX designers, UI artists, gameplay engineers, backend developers, and audio teams to align UI with vision.
• Build out a collaborative development culture across the Experience Design department.
• Mentor fellow technical designers and contribute to growing the Technical UI function, including hiring.
