Job summary

Lansing Community College is seeking a Full-Time Academic Professional - Lead Tutor in Science (TEMPORARY) to provide proactive tutoring and mentoring for students throughout their enrollment. The role emphasizes learning outcomes, retention and completion, with on-campus duties and potential evening/weekend assignments.

Regular campus presence is expected, and the lead tutor may serve as a liaison for academic programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics or related field or equivalent experience.
• Tutoring experience, supplemental instruction or teaching experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in a leadership role (professional or volunteer).
• Availability to work on campus 40 hours per week with evening/weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide learning support to students with proactive tutoring and mentoring.
• Support learning outcomes focused on student success, retention and completion.
• Participate in department training, tutor training and professional development.
• May liaison with academic programs and career communities as needed.
