Job summary

Boom Technology, Inc. is seeking a Turbine Aerodynamics Lead to drive the Symphony turbine system development, covering high and low-pressure sections, and to design airfoils and flowpaths using CFD.

You will develop 1D meanline models, blade design, performance maps, and participate in rig tests, influencing integration with the Overture propulsion system. The role requires strong CAD skills, Python or similar programming, and experience with NPSS or PyCycle in a fast-paced, collaborative

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal skills and team play.
  • Design experience in axial turbomachinery across multiple design phases using meanline, 2D, and 3D analyses.
  • Proficiency in CAD to support engine module integration.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
  • Experience with engine cycle analysis tools such as NPSS or PyCycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the Symphony turbine system (High and Low pressure) with performance and aerodynamic design.
  • Design airfoils and flowpath via CFD analysis.
  • Develop 1D meanline models and design blading; develop performance maps; participate in rig tests and assess hardware.
  • Analyze rig and engine test data; recommend actions to optimize designs.
  • Develop and integrate toolchains and processes for multidisciplinary workflows linking engine and propulsion with airframe development.
  • Coordinate with leadership, team members, and suppliers to ensure designs meet manufacturing metrics.
