Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a Compressor Design Engineer to help shape the front end of the Symphony propulsion system. You will work with designers, test engineers, and analysts to design, optimize, and validate high performance fan and compression components for the Overture program.

This role offers hands-on opportunities from concept through certification, with exposure to CFD, meanline modeling, and engine cycle tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages.
  • Design experience in axial turbomachinery (including meanline and 3D CFD).
  • Ability to navigate CAD to support module integration in the engine.
  • Experience with high speed compressor airfoil design and tuning.
  • Experience with engine cycle analysis tools such as NPSS or PyCycle.
  • Willingness to collaborate and build team consensus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of the Symphony compression system and own at least one area: High Pressure Compressor, Low Pressure Compressor or Fan.
  • Design airfoils and flowpath via CFD analysis.
  • Develop 1D meanline models, design blades, develop performance maps, participate in rig tests, and assess hardware.
  • Analyze rig and engine test data and recommend courses of action.
  • Contribute to toolchains and workflows integrating engine and propulsion analyses with airframe development.
  • Involve in fabrication and testing across Symphony engine development.
