Job summary

The role emphasizes field leadership, training, and customer relations while maintaining records and controlling crew costs in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Understands drawings and symbols representing lines, voltages, line equipment, etc.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Possess organizational skills and be able to multi-task.
• Capable of adjusting to field requirements and take independent action without close supervision.
• Able to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
• Able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
• Due to equipment capacity, weight should not exceed ~300 pounds.
• No fear of heights.
• Willing to pay union dues.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and assigns daily work for the crew after receiving orders from a General Foreperson/Supervisor.
• Conducts field training/retraining, instructing crew on new or revised job units.
• Enforces safe work practices per policy and OSHA guidelines and conducts safety training.
• Discusses access, power interruption, and work scope with property owners; refers complex cases upward.
• Obtains permission from property owners to perform required work.
• Promotes good customer relations through effective completion of work and crew conduct.
• May investigate minor damage claims and report incidents.
• Maintains records, timesheets, and crew operation reports.
• Controls crew costs via manpower, methods, and equipment usage.
• Provides reports on orders completed, crew time, and damages.
• Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments for safe operations.
• Sets up barriers and safety measures to protect workers and the public.
• Inspects and arranges repairs to tools, trucks, and equipment.
• Maintains truck and work-site cleanliness.
• Handles DOT maintenance and inspection requirements for required vehicles.
• Keeps informed on equipment specs and company policies.
