Job summary

Mecklenburg County Maintenance in North Carolina seeks a Transportation Worker IV to operate equipment such as bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, and graders. You will lead a highway maintenance crew, follow oral and written instructions, and support safety and traffic control tasks.

Responsibilities include road grading, pavement repair, pipe installation, snow and ice removal, and applying salt and brine. Requires a valid Class A CDL with N endorsement or ability to obtain within 360 days,

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; six years of equipment operation experience or equivalent.
Knowledge of intermediate work zone safety and NDOT safety policies.
Experience in shoulder/ditch maintenance, pipe installation, or asphalt patching.
Ability to supervise and train a work crew and direct daily activities.
Snow and ice removal operations experience; manage weather-related conditions.

Responsibilities

Lead a highway maintenance crew and supervise daily activities.
Operate equipment (e.g., backhoe, grader, loader) and ensure safe work practices.
Install traffic control and erosion control devices; perform roadway maintenance and repairs.
Follow oral and written instructions; comply with safety policies at all times.
