The North Carolina Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker III in the Mecklenburg County Maintenance Unit to perform advanced roadway maintenance and oversee crews. Responsibilities include equipment operation, safety training, and directing daily work activities, with potential night shifts and travel during severe weather.

The role requires CDL eligibility, experience with heavy equipment, and the ability to work in extreme conditions.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED and five years of equipment operation experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have valid CDL or obtain NC CDL within 360 days of hire.
• Pre-employment drug testing and background checks.

Responsabilidades

• Supervise and direct daily work activities of a maintenance crew; train employees in equipment operation and safety procedures.
• Perform asphalt repairs, pipe installation, right-of-way clearing, and work zone setup.
• Operate equipment including asphalt maintainer, patch truck, tandem dump truck, crack sealing machine, rollers, sweepers, skid steer, and backhoe.
• Load and deliver materials to job sites; respond to emergencies such as snow/ice removal and storm cleanup.
• May require nights, weekends, holidays, emergency call-back, and out-of-town travel during adverse weather events.
