Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation's Fort Worth District is seeking a Transportation Maintenance Specialist III to perform highly complex maintenance and inspection tasks on roads and bridges, operate heavy equipment, prepare reports, and support emergency responses. Training will be provided; CDL training with lodging and per diem may be available.

The position requires a valid driver’s license and CDL credentials, and applicants should be prepared for physical demands and shift work, including

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in transportation engineering support, roadway maintenance, construction inspection, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspects traffic control devices and their placement for compliance with specs and laws.
• May serve as a work crew project lead ensuring work meets project specs.
• Trains other employees.
• Provides support to local law enforcement at accident sites and assists stranded motorists.
• Verifies and processes maintenance contract inspection data to build work orders.
