Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking a Transportation Technician IV to lead on-site inspection of transportation projects across North Carolina. You will supervise field staff, verify conformance to plans, and maintain records such as daily diaries and testing reports.

The role requires an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field with 7 years of experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field with 7 years of progressive technician level experience.
• Active driver’s license required.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
• Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects with limited supervision.
• Thorough understanding of DOT Standards and Roadway Standard Drawings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect contractor operations on transportation projects to verify conformance to plans and specs.
• Supervise and maintain inspection staff during construction.
• Measure and track quantities of pay items.
• Maintain records including material certifications, testing reports, and daily diaries.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries and resolve field issues.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
