Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a seasoned Alternate Delivery Design Manager to lead pursuit, design, and delivery of transportation projects across multiple regions. You will work with regional offices and national leadership to guide project teams, manage budgets, and ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role involves business development support, risk management, staffing plans, and coordination with the Alternate Delivery Design Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited program
Experience with transportation design or design-build projects
Experience with proposal development, project planning, budget management, scheduling, and client coordination
Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multiple concurrent assignments
Strong collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

Support the development and execution of Transportation alternate delivery business initiatives and project goals.
Facilitate communication and coordination among regional offices and project stakeholders, including Go/No-Go decisions and staff availability.
Lead multidisciplinary project teams through pursuit and project execution activities.
Assist with business development efforts with project owners and contractor partners.
Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies with leadership.
Develop pursuit strategy and support proposal preparation and interview activities.
Develop scope of services for pre- and post-award phases.
Coordinate staffing and resource planning with leadership.
Manage design efforts for alternate delivery pursuits and active projects.
Monitor budgets, schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics.
Provide mentorship to project managers, engineers, and design professionals.
Ensure compliance with quality control and safety policies.
Support diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Participate in employee development and performance discussions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
