Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer in San Diego to act as the responsible engineer and client liaison for power delivery projects. The role focuses on expanding overhead line work with existing clients and developing new regional client relationships.

Responsibilities include routing and design of overhead transmission lines, preparation of calculations and construction documents, and collaboration with internal and external teams to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS degree in Civil/Structural/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in civil-structural eng with QA/QC.
• PE registration is required.
• Expertise with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, MFAD and L-Pile is required.
• PLS-TOWER experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the responsible engineer and client point of contact for power delivery projects.
• Increase the volume of overhead line work with existing clients.
• Assist in marketing, promotion and business development to add new regional clients.
• Prepare, review, and P.E. seal technical calculation reports and construction documents.
• Assist in routing and design of overhead transmission lines using industry-standard tools.
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs and documentation.
• Travel to client sites and participate in field data collection and construction activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Contribute to project planning, cost estimation and proposal preparation.
• Maintain organized records of project decisions and communications.
• Structure analysis and foundation design; develop design criteria and specs.
• Mentor junior staff and share knowledge; QA/QC across projects.
