Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Sr. Transmission Line Engineer for Northern California (Walnut Creek, CA or surrounding area) with remote work options.

You will act as the client technical lead on power delivery projects, developing relationships and expanding NV5's engineering portfolio across California and the West Coast. Responsibilities include leading overhead transmission line design, QA/QC, routing with PLS tools, preparing calculations, drawings, and technical documentation, and mentoring junior

Qualifications

B.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
10+ years of progressive experience within overhead transmission line projects with QA/QC.
Expertise with Power Line Systems software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE), MFAD and L-Pile.
P.E. registration is required or in process.

Responsibilities

Act as the responsible engineer and client point of contact for power delivery projects.
Increase the volume of overhead line work with existing clients.
Assist in marketing, promotion and business development to add new regional clients.
Prepare, review, and P.E. seal technical calculation reports and construction documents.
Assist in routing and design of overhead transmission lines using industry-standard tools.
Support the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs and documentation.
Travel to client sites and mentor junior staff.
