Job summary

Arcadis seeks a Senior Resident Engineer in Chicago to lead transit station construction, rehabilitation and modernization in active environments. You will coordinate clients, contractors, designers, operations staff and stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and contract-compliant delivery.

The role requires strong field leadership, deep civil construction knowledge, and the ability to oversee schedule, budget, quality and safety across complex projects with multiple interfaces.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of construction management or resident engineering experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
• Experience with transit station construction, rehabilitation, and modernization preferred.
• Active environment experience coordinating clients, contractors, designers, and operations staff.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing and coordinating field activities among client, contractor, designers, third-party stakeholders, and operations staff to support safe and efficient project delivery.
• Reviewing and managing project documents (RFIs, submittals, meeting records, daily reports) to ensure contract compliance.
• Supporting change management by evaluating field conditions and preparing change documentation with input from the project team.
• Monitoring scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and construction phasing in active transit environments.
• Preparing reports on construction progress, issues, risks, and cost impacts for timely decisions.
• Maintaining accurate project records and documentation practices.
