Job summary

Cox Fleet is seeking a Sr. Shop Trailer Mechanic for our on-site shop position. This role focuses on certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced trailer repairs, with leadership responsibilities on jobsites.

You will diagnose and repair trailer systems, manage parts and approvals, and ensure safety and compliance within a shop environment. The successful candidate will have a HS diploma or GED with relevant experience, ASE/CDL certifications preferred, and a strong toolset.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and 5 years in a related field, or alternative combos with 3–7 years experience.
• Possess a set of hand tools.
• DOT/FMCSA training or equivalent recommended; DOT physical/background screening may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform certified DOT inspections and PMs on light, medium, and heavy-duty trailers.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair trailer systems and components.
• Maintain safety, orderliness, and environmental compliance in the shop.
• Coordinate with Service Writer and Parts Dept. for parts and approvals.
• Complete documentation on RO using company device/Karmak.
