Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. (VHB) is hiring a Traffic Engineering Project Manager to join our Hauppauge, NY Transportation team in a hybrid work setting.

You will lead complex traffic operations, planning studies, and TIAs for high‑profile developments, coordinating with municipalities, agencies, and clients from early planning through approvals. The role emphasizes mentorship, technical excellence, and delivering safe, mobility‑improving solutions across Long Island.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Master’s degree a plus.
• 8+ years of professional experience in traffic/transportation engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure required.
• Experience with Vissim and Synchro preferred.
• Experience with SEQRA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage traffic engineering, transportation planning, and/or safety projects and contracts.
• Attend and lead meetings with agencies, clients, consultant partners, and stakeholders.
• Develop new project opportunities, manage client relationships, and prepare and manage proposal submissions.
• Prepare and present traffic impact studies, operational analyses, technical reports, and expert testimony supporting project approvals and public hearings.
• Complete traffic safety and operational improvement studies for localized intersections and corridors.
• Lead development of Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs) and/or TIA reviews on behalf of municipalities.
• Evaluate transportation impacts and recommend operational improvements and mitigation strategies.
