Job summary

HDR is seeking a Traffic Engineer to join our Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin office. You will grow the traffic engineering practice by taking on increasing leadership responsibilities, managing projects, and mentoring junior staff.

As part of HDR's employee-owned culture, you will collaborate with transportation professionals across Wisconsin and HDR's Midwest offices on a diverse mix of projects, delivering high-quality analyses and designs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• License: PE or equivalent recognized in the location of the position.
• Hands-on traffic design using CAD platforms (MicroStation, AutoCAD).
• Hands-on traffic analysis using tools like HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, Aimsun.
• Hands-on safety analysis with traffic safety software.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex traffic engineering projects and prepare plans, PS&E documents and traffic analyses.
• Lead traffic studies and design efforts including operations, safety, intersections and corridors.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects in Wisconsin.
• Make design and engineering decisions and act as a technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and mentor early-career staff.
