Job description

Holly Hill Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited psychiatric hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. We provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient behavioral health and mental health services to children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and seniors. Holly Hill Hospital has been equipping patients with the skills needed to return to their communities healthier and happier for nearly 40 years. Our staff of clinicians has many years of experience in the fields of mental health and addiction, providing support to patients, their families, and the community at large. At both our children’s and adult campus, our treatment model provides all of our patients with the coping skills they need to thrive.

The Lead Therapist is a part of the Clinical Services team and is responsible for providing psychotherapeutic and discharge planning services to all patient populations and their families.

POSITION SUMMARY :

  • Provides quality psychotherapeutic and discharge planning services to all patient populations and their families.
  • Provides assessment, group treatment, family work, and discharge planning.
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team supporting the organization's treatment program and philosophy.
  • Assists with collecting and compiling data for quality assurance.
  • Assists with training and orienting needs of new hires.
  • Assists with training and supervising master's interns.

Qualifications

Education / Training :

Master's degree in Human Service field (e.g., Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, etc.)

Licensure / Certification :

  • LCSW, LCMHC, LPA or LMFT (or active provisional license)
  • CPI Certification (obtained upon hire)
  • CPR Certification (Preferred)

Experience :

At least 2 years' experience in the mental health field. Hospital experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills :

  • Knowledge of short-term/acute care stabilization mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  • Facilitation skills for leading process and skills groups.
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavior theory, dialectical behavior therapy, and systems theory.
  • Assessment skills for building rapport and evaluating mental illness and substance use in children, adolescents, and adult populations.
  • Case Management skills to include arranging aftercare appointments and security group home, ALF, SNF placements.
  • Skills in preparing and monitoring appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Organizational, time management, problem-solving, crisis management, and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative, flexible, and calm.
  • Knowledge of developmental psychology and needs of various populations.
  • Able to develop therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Knowledge of milieu management.
  • Knowledge of appropriate assessments, diagnoses, and interventions with patients.
  • Ability to maintain professional relationships with patients, patient's family members, staff, and community personnel.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and high ethical standards.
  • Professional verbal and written skills for communicating the patient status and treatment needs to employees of the hospital, payers, families, professionals, paraprofessionals, and members of the patient's community.

Physical Requirements :

Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Able to write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the patient chart. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to perform CPI techniques. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending physicians, and other department representatives.

Employees may be required to :

  • Work first or second shift or any day of the week.
