About Tury Research Institute

Tury Research Institute conducts applied research and evaluation projects in public health, behavioral health, and community safety. Many projects involve interviews with participants who may disclose sensitive experiences requiring immediate mental health support. These projectsfocus on people of color who may disclose sensitive experiences that require immediate, culturally responsive mental health support.

Scope of Work

• Remain available by phone or secure video during the specified hours to provide brief clinical consultations if a research participant exhibits acute distress during semi‑structured interviews.
• Assess immediate risk, offer stabilization techniques, and determine whether referral to emergency or community resources is indicated. Apply a trauma informed, culturally responsive approach when assessing immediate risk, offering stabilization, and determining referrals.
• Document each consultation in a secure, HIPAA‑compliant format provided by TRI.
• Coordinate, when necessary, with TRI interview staff to debrief and advise on participant follow‑up.
• Participate in a brief orientation session (~1hour) on study protocols and safety procedures.
• Provide real‑time mental health guidance and support to TRI research staff during the 11–4 window, including debriefing, protocol clarification, and well‑being check‑ins as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Massachusetts independent clinical license (e.g., LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, LP, or equivalent).
• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related mental health discipline.
• Minimum two years of post‑licensure clinical experience providing crisis assessment and intervention.
• Demonstrated experience providing trauma informed care to racially and ethnically diverse or otherwise vulnerable populations.
• Professional liability insurance covering tele‑mental‑health services in Massachusetts.
• Proficiency with common telehealth platforms and secure electronic documentation.
• Reliable high‑speed internet and private workspace compliant with confidentiality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting participants in public health or violence‑related research studies.
• Familiarity with trauma‑informed and culturally responsive care.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts community mental health and crisis resources.

Contract Terms

• Fixed $1,000/week covers up to ten participant consultations per week.
• Should have a secure phone line or HIPAA‑compliant video link for consultations.
• Contractor is responsible for maintaining licensing, insurance, and tax obligations.
