Job summary

Fourth Floor in New York City is seeking a Technical Designer to lead the creation and maintenance of detailed technical packages and fit guidance. You will partner with design and production teams, orchestrate fit sessions, review samples, and ensure specs align with brand standards while maintaining aesthetics.

The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of related experience and a fashion/product design background, with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years related experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion/Product Design preferred.
• Knowledge of Technical Design and the ability to write accurate garment specifications and communicate fit and construction.
• Ability to read design specs. Knowledge of grading.
• Ability to spec garments and determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent.
• Must be organized, detail minded and have strong collaboration, communication and follow up skills.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain detailed technical packages (specs, measurements, construction details, grading, and fit comments).
• Lead fit sessions and provide clear, actionable feedback to vendors and internal teams.
• Review and measure samples to ensure accuracy against specs and brand standards.
• Collaborate with Design to resolve fit, construction, and quality issues while maintaining aesthetic intent.
• Communicate fit corrections, pattern adjustments, and construction changes to overseas and domestic vendors.
• Review and approve grading, markers, and size sets as needed.
• Ensure products meet quality, performance, and cost requirements.
• Track and manage sample progress through development milestones and production timelines.
• Partner with Production and QA teams to address bulk production issues and ensure consistency.
• Support continuous improvement of fit standards, block development, and technical processes.
