Job summary

RTX Portsmouth, RI site is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead requirements and specification efforts within the SE&TC group. You will guide the team in defining, validating, and ensuring traceable system requirements across the full lifecycle.

The role requires a STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, MBSE experience, and tools like DOORS, Rhapsody, and Cameo. U.S. citizenship and a DoD Secret clearance are required; domestic travel up to 15% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with DOORS, Rhapsody, Cameo, and/or other digital engineering tools.
• Experience with system software, system hardware, system requirements and/or test.
• Experience with underwater acoustics analysis, sensor systems, and/or naval system development.

Responsibilities

• Define, manage, and validate system requirements across the full lifecycle.
• Oversee technical work products for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
• Drive engineering processes to enhance performance and team effectiveness.
• Coordinate architecture, integration, verification, and deployment activities.
• Collaborate across disciplines to resolve issues and maintain traceability.
• Lead reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Proactively identify roadblocks and negotiate changes to keep projects moving.
• Evaluate contracts and strategies to optimize spending and align to strategy.
• Travel domestically up to 15% to support customer events.
