Job summary

Butler America Aerospace, LLC is seeking a Principal System Safety Engineer in Tucson, AZ. The role focuses on developing MIL STD 882E compliant system safety programs and executing safety tasks across management, analysis, evaluation and verification.

You will coordinate with program teams, government safety reps, customers and vendors to allocate safety requirements, eliminate hazards and ensure proper design allocations. Mentoring junior engineers is part of the job.

Qualifications

• Analysis of hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings for fault tolerance and safety compliance.
• Coordinate with customers and program management during safety assessments.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and briefs for customer approval.
• Mentor junior engineers and interface with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement MIL STD 882E compliant system safety programs.
• Perform system safety tasks across management, analysis, evaluation and verification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and safety briefs for customer approval.
• Mentor multiple junior engineers and interfacing with stakeholders (customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors).
• Brief safety of the program at reviews and ensure proper allocation of safety requirements.
