Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a swim instructor to teach swimming and water safety per city standards. The role includes supervising structured class activities for small groups or private lessons and may involve leading a pool and assisting with program registration, assessments, and evaluation.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of swim instruction, holds WSI and Lifeguard certs, and will receive Lifeguard certification reimbursement after 200 hours.

Qualifications

• Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or have an approved medical/religious exemption
• Knowledge of instructional methods for teaching swimming and water safety to groups and individuals
• At least two years of swim instruction experience and one year of program administration
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of employment from an approved organization
• Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
• Current Water Safety Instructor certification

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming and water safety to groups or individuals.
• Lead instructor for a pool and supervise class activities.
• Assist with registration, student assessments, and program evaluation.
• Train and supervise other swim instructors and participate in program planning.
