Job summary

City of Ann Arbor is seeking a dedicated swim instructor to teach children and adults according to city standards. The role involves supervising structured class activities, serving as a lead instructor for a pool, and supporting instructional swim programs across multiple pools, including registrations and assessments.

You will train and supervise other instructors, help evaluate programs, and ensure safety and skill progress for all participants.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of instructional methods for teaching swimming and water safety to groups and individuals.
• At least two years of swim instruction experience and one year of swim program administration.
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Must possess current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification by start of employment.
• Current Water Safety Instructor certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise structured class activities for a small group of students or for private lessons.
• Lead instructor for a particular pool and assist with instructional swim programs across multiple pools.
• Organize and implement instructional swim programs; manage program registrations and student skill assessments.
• Train and supervise other swim instructors; contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement.
