Job summary

Joby is seeking a Staff/ Sr. Staff Supplier Industrialization Engineer in San Carlos, CA to lead end-to-end manufacturing process development and supplier qualification. This role requires deep expertise in GD&T, SPC, PPAP/APQP, and AS9102 FAIR, with broad exposure to metals, composites, plastics, and electronics.

Domestic/international travel up to 50% is expected. You will collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Quality, GSM, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure rapid, high-quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
• 8+ years in industrial, manufacturing, process engineering, or supplier quality (Staff); 5+ years for Senior.
• Depth in at least one manufacturing discipline (e.g., Advanced Composites, Precision Machining, Electronics/PCBA, Plastics/Polymers, or Special Processes).
• Experience with PPAP/APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and AS9102 FAIR in regulated settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-commodity industrialization and scale manufacturing processes across metals, composites, plastics, electronics, and special processes.
• Drive NPI at supplier sites, optimize tooling, equipment, and workflows for yield and cycle time.
• Influence DFM feedback on material selection, part consolidation, and tolerancing for manufacturability.
• Lead supplier audits, NSE, and qualification assessments; steward Joby Approved Supplier List.
• Develop and manage supplier quality plans, control plans, PFMEAs, inspection plans, and PPAP.
