Job summary

Joby Aviation is seeking a Sr. Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Plastics to lead the industrialization of advanced plastic components across suppliers, ensuring parts are optimized for injection molding, thermoforming, and secondary finishing operations to enable rapid development cycles and product launches.

The role demands 8+ years in industrial, manufacturing, process engineering or supplier quality engineering, travel up to 50% (domestic and international), and collaborative leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing/Materials Engineering.
• 8+ years in industrial, manufacturing, process engineering or supplier quality.
• Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the industrialization phase for plastic and polymer components.
• Drive DF-M and DF I reviews to optimize parts for injection molding, thermoforming, and finishing operations.
• Troubleshoot complex process deviations including sink, warpage, short shots, and knit lines.
• Improve tools and quality management approaches in a fast-paced environment.
• Lead supplier planning, manufacturing, assembly process control from development to mass production.
• Provide leadership for New Product Introduction at suppliers and drive improvements in scalability, cost, and quality.
• Clarify technical requirements between suppliers and internal teams (Purchasing, Quality, Design).
• Audit suppliers to ensure part performance, delivery, and reliability.
