Job summary

MPI seeks a Lead Superintendent to oversee all phases of ground-up multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial construction in the Virginia Beach area. You will manage field operations, subcontractors, and project teams to deliver safe, on-schedule, within-budget results and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
• +7-12 years of progressive experience managing ground-up multi-family, mixed-use, and/or commercial projects valued from $30M-$250M+.
• Proven leadership ability mentoring teams and fostering a positive jobsite culture.
• Strong knowledge of project management, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience managing client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships while resolving project challenges.
• Knowledge of subcontract procurement, contract administration, and scope development.
• Understanding of construction scheduling and project sequencing.
• OSHA 30 certification; CCM, PMP, LEED or other certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the site team from project startup through closeout, serving as the primary contact for owner and stakeholders.
• Ensure the project team understands contract requirements, scope, and objectives.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor the project schedule to maximize subcontractor productivity.
• Oversee the Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with contract documents and standards.
• Manage subcontractor and vendor agreements, review invoices and pay applications, and ensure timely payments.
• Promote and maintain a safe jobsite by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for field staff.
• Conduct all business interactions with professionalism, accountability, and integrity.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and the local community.
