Job summary

MPI is seeking a Lead Superintendent to oversee large, ground-up multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial construction projects. The role requires extensive field leadership, coordination of subcontractors, and strong PM skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.

You will lead a team, enforce safety, and drive project success on site, with a focus on quality and client satisfaction across high-value Richmond-area projects.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience managing ground-up multi-family, mixed-use, and/or commercial projects.
• Mentoring teams and fostering a positive jobsite culture.
• Strong knowledge of PM, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
• Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Experience managing client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships; resolving challenges.
• OSHA 30 certification; CCM, PMP, LEED, or related certifications preferred.

The Lead Superintendent will oversee all phases of large, ground up multi-family, mixed-use, and commercial construction projects, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Description

• Lead and manage the site team from project startup through closeout, serving as the primary point of contact for the owner and key stakeholders
• Ensure the project team fully understands contract requirements, scope, and project objectives
• Develop, maintain, and monitor the project schedule to support efficient sequencing of work and maximize subcontractor productivity
• Implement and oversee the project's Quality Control Program to ensure compliance with contract documents and company standards
• Manage subcontractor and vendor agreements, review invoices and pay applications, and ensure accurate and timely payments
• Promote and maintain a safe jobsite by enforcing company safety policies and procedures
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight for field staff while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment
• Conduct all business interactions with professionalism, accountability, and integrity
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and the local community while representing the company in a positive manner

Profile

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• +/- 7-12 years of progressive experience managing ground-up multi-family, mixed-use, and/or commercial projects, with projects valued from $30M - $250M+
• Proven leadership ability with experience mentoring teams and fostering a positive jobsite culture
• Strong knowledge of project management, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting
• Excellent organizational, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
• Experience managing client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships while effectively resolving project challenges
• Knowledge of subcontract procurement, contract administration, and scope development
• Understanding of construction scheduling and project sequencing
• Proficiency with industry software such as Procore, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other construction management platforms
• Familiarity with AIA contracts and GMP project delivery methods
• OSHA 30 certification required; CCM, PMP, LEED, or other industry certifications preferred
