Job summary

Southern Staffing Group seeks a Lead Test Engineer for positions servicing the AEP system pathway across TX, LA, OK with a focus on electrical utility testing and commissioning. The role emphasizes leadership, delivering precise test results, and mentoring engineers while coordinating safety and performance standards.

You will oversee relay protection testing, CT/PT verification, and client-facing project execution plans.

Responsibilities

• Independently test relay protection elements.
• Verify CT and PT ratios, phasing, polarity, and single-point grounds.
• Perform fundamental control circuitry tests independently.
• Confirm station phasing and equipment orientation.
• Review project drawings including one-line, three-line, schematic, and wiring diagrams.
• Develop client relay test routines using Protection Suite, Test Universe, RTS and other tools.
• Create protection isolation plans using human performance procedures and tools.
• Develop client-specific commissioning plans and procedures.
