Job summary

Southern Staffing Group is recruiting a Lead Test Engineer to own delivery of complex substation protection projects. You will lead field teams, mentor technicians in protection theory, and serve as the technical authority on testing prior to client sign-off.

You will help grow the business by expanding client relationships and the project pipeline, combining field leadership with hands-on engineering and project management.

Qualifications

• Deep technical knowledge of substation protection and controls with hands-on relay testing experience.
• Proven leadership and mentorship skills for direct reports.
• Strong organization, planning, and communication abilities.
• Ability to manage project man hours and forecasts with accuracy.
• Customer-focused mindset and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead field teams on complex substation protection projects from planning to energization.
• Mentor technicians in protection theory and application and develop training plans.
• Develop and manage project execution plans, monitor hours, and control changes.
• Review testing results for accuracy before client submission.
• Build and maintain client relationships to expand the pipeline.
