Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer in Chicago to lead a multi-discipline team addressing complex utility challenges. You will perform rigid bus analysis, design electrical substation steel structures, and oversee foundations and containment systems.

The role requires ABET-accredited education and several years of structural engineering experience, with opportunities to mentor others and advance to leadership.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree with 3 years relevant structural experience.
• Alternatively, Master’s degree with 2 years experience in listed areas.
• Experience in substation steel structures, foundations, and oil containment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multi-discipline team to address utilities challenges.
• Perform rigid bus analysis and design of equipment foundations and containment.
• Present designs and proposals to clients and authorities.
• Support clients during construction and through site inspections.
• Develop specifications and technical documentation; contribute to proposals.
• Pursue leadership opportunities and mentor junior engineers.
