Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to oversee complex P&C designs for 12–500 kV systems. This role involves leading projects, creating relay diagrams, developing schematics, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, necessitating partial work in the Atlanta, GA office, along with travel to customer sites. Candidates are expected to have significant experience in the field and provide leadership.

The salary range for this role is between $107,900 and $195,050, reflecting market factors and individual qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 8+ years of substation protection and control design experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in fast‑paced environments.
• Team player with leadership capability.
• Self‑starter, works with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical skills and proven engineering problem‑solving.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support delivery of substation protection and control design projects.
• Create and refine relay one‑line diagrams that define protection zones and system topology.
• Develop detailed AC schematics.
• Produce DC control and protection schematics.
• Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and physical layouts.
• Build accurate BOMs aligned with project criteria.
• Perform rigorous QC checks on designs.
• Provide technical guidance during installation and testing.
• Interpret and implement utility‑specific standards.
