Job summary

Pike Engineering in Pittsburgh seeks a senior Substation Protection and Control Engineer to lead design, engineering, and technical oversight for transmission substation projects, battery storage systems, and solar collector substations. You will steer discipline work, manage project schedules and budgets, and support proposals and business development.

Ideal candidates have extensive P&C experience, PE licensure, and a track record mentoring engineers and delivering safe, cost-effective designs

Qualifications

8+ years of practicing engineering experience.
Bachelor’s degree from ABET/EAC accredited program or NCEES evaluation or advanced degree from ABET-accredited institution.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
Experience leading engineering teams and managing projects.

Responsibilities

Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals for substation and transmission equipment.
Lead protection scheme design for substations and lines including bus, capacitor, and transformer protection and settings.
Create and optimize P&C drawings, schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality control; mentor junior staff.
Support proposals, cost estimating, and business development efforts.
Collaborate with cross-discipline teams and clients; visit sites as needed.
