We are seeking a Lead Substation Protection & Control Engineer to join our team. As a Protection & Control Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design substation protection and control projects for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV. This field is expanding within the power systems industry, offering exposure to how renewable energy integrates into the electric grid. Candidates should have knowledge of digital logic design, AC and DC circuits to develop electrical projects.

HYBRID SCHEDULE:

Candidates must reside in the Framingham, MA office's client servicing territory: MA, CT, NH, RI. (1 - 4 days in office.)

The Responsibilities:

• Design relay one-line diagrams.
• Create three-line AC schematics.
• Develop DC protection schematics.
• Design panel layouts and wiring.
• Develop bill of materials based on design criteria.
• Perform quality control on wiring designs.
• Support project lifecycle from scoping to implementation.
• Provide construction support.
• Ensure designs meet electrical safety codes.
• Work with client standards and create necessary drawings with designers/drafters.

Candidates must adhere to quality and safety standards, and work within project scope, schedule, and budget. The role involves collaborating with a team of engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience in substation protection/control design or testing/commissioning.
• Experience in executing substation protection/control projects.
• Excellent communication skills for team and client interactions.
• Ability to read and create substation protection/control drawings.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Effective team collaborator and leader.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High computer proficiency.
• Willingness to travel to project/client sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineer (“EI” or “EIT”) certification.
• Professional Engineer (“PE”) license.
• Experience in quality control on small projects.
• Experience with CAD tools.
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Field testing/commissioning experience.
