Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Physical Engineer to lead high-impact substation design projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. You will develop safe, reliable layouts and supervise drawings, grounding, and foundations while coordinating with clients and internal teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 8+ years of substation design experience, with travel to project sites as needed. Leidos offers growth, mentorship, and diverse opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of substation physical design experience.
• Experience with grounding studies, lightning protection, and lighting studies.
• Ability to communicate with internal teams and clients.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and client locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the delivery of substation physical design projects, ensuring on-time performance.
• Partner with internal engineering groups and external clients to deliver solutions that exceed standards.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews on substation physical design packages for accuracy and compliance.
• Read, design, and review substation drawings including one-lines, three-lines, plan-and-section views, grounding layouts, and foundation designs.
• Create and verify bills of materials for substation physical components.
• Conduct site visits at customer locations to gather data and validate designs.
